Welcome to Kitchen Heat!

It’s funny how quickly the world changes. Seems like yesterday that we would get our news from a paper, our weather from the radio and if you wanted to see pictures of your friends vacation – you actually had to GO to their house to see them.

Well, that was then and this is now. We live in a world of Tweets, Facebooks, Youtubes and blogs. Information is readily available from countless sources and it seems almost overwelming to appreciate the amount of information out there.

And so, late one night in my office, came the concept for Kitchen Heat – a blog dedicated to the dedicated foodservice workers in the healthcare industry.

The vision is to create a platform for your voice to be heard, your concerns to be raised, and more importantly, your chance to participate in a community of like-minded individuals from across Canada. Over the past 20 years, our team has aquired many ideas, tips and best practices which can help you operate with confidence.

This is a safe place, where you will not be inundated with advertisments, slick  marketing or endless discussions about products, this is simply a website dedicated to bringing the healthcare foodservice community together, for the benefit of all of us.  Hopefully you can see our vision as well and we wish to ensure that everyone is heard – so, we welcome any and all reader contributions. Whether it be an article, a question or even a simple comment – it is our goal to ensure that every voice is heard.

Our editorial team is headed by Helen Scott, who is a registered dietitian in Calgary, Alberta. Helen has been a part of the Burlodge team for 2 years now and her youthful, energenic approach to her work made her the natural choice for the position of editor-in-chief. Helen will be contributing articles on a weekly basis, ensuring that Kitchen Heat stays hot with the latest information!

We will also feature a cast of regular contributors who will bring you valuable insight to this exciting industry. We have experts from across the country who are happy to share many tips and tricks for you to more effectively manage your kitchen.

So, welcome to Kitchen Heat – it’s just starting to get hot in here!
